A dog’s bond with his human is strong, but a dog’s friendship with a stranger puppy is even stronger. Eleven-year-old Charlie was a cheerful canine back in his youth, but when he lost both his eyes a few years back, his owners noticed that he was never the same.
His eyes had to be removed because of glaucoma. He was okay after the surgery and adapted well into his new life, but there was just something missing. He lost his spirits and cheerfulness.
So his owners, Chelsea Stipe and her husband, thought that it would be best for Charlie to have a furry company in his twilight years. And that was were this adorable pup named Maverick came into the spotlight. The moment they brought home the puppy, Charlie already formed a bond with the little one.
They instantly clicked and were inseparable since then. It was as if Maverick became Charlie’s new light, and the senior dog was never better. They would continuously mess around the house, playing with the toys Charlie didn’t even touch before Maverick came.
Although only a few months old, Maverick is one smart pooch. He understands that Charlie is different and helps him out whenever he can. He keeps him in line during their walks and is always on the lookout for him. He was like his little guardian angel.
Whenever they play, the pup would instantly put toys in front of Charlie so he wouldn’t have to scour the area. Maverick also makes sure that he sleeps beside Charlie to let him know that he’s not alone. They would go anywhere with each other, on car rides, on the front porch, even on walks to the kitchen.
Charlie became happier and livelier with Maverick around. The pup definitely made the rest of his years twinkle.
