Homer, a feral dog was found wandering with a leash tied around him so tight. He is full of fear, when he sees strangers, he will go hiding, which is understandable as hiding gives him a little comfort. They believe he had been out wandering and trying to survive for months with little or none.
Rocky wants to foster Homer, but In order to take Homer home and foster him, he wants to make sure Homer will trust him first and will come along with him. It will be a long journey. So, what Rocky did is he sat next to Homer on the grass to see if he would let him pet him. They were there for at least an hour, but it was all worth it. In the end, Homer feels comfortable and Rocky got to pet Homer.
Homer’s first morning in the home is not all that easy. He was scared and trembling to even go to the bathroom which is just at the backyard. But obviously everything right now is just fear for Homer as he is not used to being in a loving home.
So they just have to be patient with him, take each step slowly and try to walk just a little bit. Any little movements like that are a big deal for Homer. This sweet little boy, sad to see he didn’t know how to be a dog. He couldn’t even walk upstairs. It has been a couple of weeks now, and Homer’s still pretty shy, scared of most things. “But you know what? I’m by his side every step of the way to support him,” said Rocky with so much compassion in his voice.
Days, weeks pass by and Homer was progressing, but it was slow. One sunny day, everything changes, Homer comes alive. Rocky turned around and he was met with Homer, bumping him with his nose and his tail just wagged. It took Homer two and a half months to wag his tail. For Rocky, it was such an excitement and quite an experience to see that happen. Homer finally overcame his fear and he is ready to find his forever lucky family.
